Amazing Windrush images show moments that shaped a nation 75 years on

The Mirror and Pride of Britain have teamed up with Ocean Outdoor for a nationwide billboard campaign to share the images, and give you the chance to tell us your Windrush story

From children playing in the street to men and women arriving to help rebuild post-war Britain, these iconic photographs provide an intriguing glimpse into the lives of the Windrush generation and their descendants.

Now 75 years on we want to hear stories directly from the people who moved, lived and worked to help rebuild Britain all those years ago. How did they make a life for themselves here, what did they leave behind and how did they help shape the country that we know today?

Empire Windrush arrived at London’s Tilbury Docks from the Caribbean on June 22 1948. Arrivals worked in jobs from manufacturing and construction, to transport, and many found employment as nurses. Amid the struggles, there were also fond memories – the culture, food and music we know and love is a result of the arrival of the Windrush generation and their adjustment to British life.

Now the Mirror and Pride of Britain have teamed up with Ocean Outdoor for a nationwide billboard campaign to share the images, and give you the chance to tell us your Windrush story. We have delved into our amazing photographic archive to find the most compelling images for this anniversary celebration.
