Allied Vehicles drives up profits to £10.7m

A supplier of wheelchair-accessible vehicles and taxis has recorded a rise in profit.

Allied Vehicles Group enjoyed strong growth even though semiconductor shortages affected global supply chains for many car manufacturers.

It said that demand had remained high, meaning some orders were unfulfilled but those are expected to be delivered over the next few months as supply problems begin to ease.

Turnover was £180 million for the 12 months to April this year, compared to £146.9 million, while the pre-tax profit was £10.7 million, up from £7 million in the previous financial year.

The directors said they were “extremely pleased” with the performance, given there were still a number of coronavirus restrictions across the trading period.
