Aldi lovers could get a new store in just weeks as part of UK expansion

Aldi will have 1,500 sites in the UK by the end of its expansion strategy (Image: Getty) The budget supermarket giant opened its 1,000th site just last week on September 7. And it’s not the end of its expansion. In fact, the retailer has committed to getting a further 20 Aldi branches up and running before the end of 2023. Two more will open in a matter of days, with the first in Warrington set to unlock its doors on Thursday, September 14. A second site will make its debut in Seaton, East Devon next Thursday, September 21. While many other supermarkets like Iceland and Tesco are closing shops across the nation, the leading budget chain plans to continue its expansion by hundreds in the long term. The plan will see the retailer invest billions of pounds into the UK economy and create thousands of jobs for people across the country. Aldi is loved for its low prices and has become the fourth-largest supermarket in the UK. The newest Woking store is one of more than 150 sites that the retailer now has in the area, despite starting out in the Midlands. Birmingham residents were lucky enough to welcome the budget chain’s first UK store back in 1990 when it opened in Stechford.
