Fears are growing of the cumulative danger of generative models using AI data rather than human-made content
A flood of fake news generated by artificial intelligence (AI) will “pollute human knowledge”, news publishers have warned.
News outlets have reported “troubling” instances where AI tools such as ChatGPT have presented users with fabricated articles.
Often, the stories have been falsely attributed to real journalists and are accompanied by a news outlet’s branding.
The News Media Association (NMA), which represents titles including The Times, The Guardian and The Telegraph, said fabricated articles pose “significant threats to the information ecosystem”.
