Brits fed up of rain could be treated to sweltering temperatures reaching 32C later this week as the mercury nudges higher than even the heat being experienced in southern California
Brits are set to bake in an African plume bringing 32C heat later this week, according to forecasters.
High pressure building from the middle of the week means south-east England will see the mercury peak on Friday, potentially reaching higher than the 26C predicted for Los Angeles in California.
The Met Office predicts a southerly airflow will bring warmer temperatures in from the southeast.
Much of the south of the UK will see temperatures in the high 20s, while the north will also see a boost to the mercury, according to senior meteorologist at British Weather Services Jim Dale. However, the hot spell may be followed by some rain and showers – with the Met Office even suggesting thunderstorms could be on the way.
