The number of adults in Scotland receiving medicine for ADHD is soaring, new figures have revealed.
There has been a sevenfold rise in the number of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder cases in the past decade and one expert has described the increase as “extremely worrying”.
More than 12,000 adult NHS patients were prescribed drugs for the condition in the past year. The figure compiled by Public Health Scotland (PHS) for 2013-14 was 1,603. There has been a steep increase in cases since the onset of the pandemic.
