‘A mid-life gap year convinced me to ditch IT and become a tantric sex coach’

Mid-life career swap: Mangala left corporate life behind to teach others to ‘awaken their orgasmic pleasure’

In a new series, Telegraph Money speaks to those who have gambled on a mid-life career change to find out if it has paid off.

Where Mangala once travelled the country demonstrating new software, she’s now teaching tantric yoga as a sexual confidence coach.

Working as a corporate IT trainer earned Mangala, 50, around £30,000, but as she neared middle age she realised she wanted more from life, and wanted to help people who were feeling similarly stuck.

“I was working as an IT trainer. I had lots of different corporate roles within that, so I worked in insurance companies and legal firms, and the last job I did was in stockbroking,” she said. “I was a regional training manager, so I was travelling all over the north-west delivering software roll-outs.
