Man Utd squad fly to Europa League clash after learning January transfer plans

Manchester United are set to take on Real Sociedad in their final Europa League group stage game and Erik ten Hag’s side are still in with a chance of topping their group

After seeing significant squad upheaval over the summer, Manchester United ‘s players have jetted off for Spain knowing the club are not actively pursuing any January signings.

Erik ten Hag’s side are set to face Real Sociedad in their final Europa League group game with a chance to clinch top spot in their group with a two-goal victory. The group winners will progress straight to the last 16 of the competition, while whoever finishes second will face an extra play-off round.

United spent more than £200m over the summer, bringing the likes of Antony, Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro to Old Trafford. There had been rumours of more spending in January, but it looks unlikely that they will add to their ranks in the winter window.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the club are “not actively pursuing” any further deals in January. They didn’t make any signings in the January 2022 window under interim manager Ralf Rangnick, despite being linked with a number of names.
