At least 14 hurt, including 3 children, in Halloween night shooting

Over a dozen people were shot, including three children, when two people opened fire from a car into a crowd on Halloween night.

At least 14 people were shot in the west Chicago neighborhood of Garfield Park on Monday around 9.30pm. Another woman was injured after they were struck by a car while trying to flee.

Chicago Police Department Superintendent David Brown confirmed that the children were aged 3, 11, and 13. All three children sustained gunshot wounds and are in serious condition at local hospitals, the police stated.

Four of the adults were reported to be in serious condition as well, including a 48-year-old man who was shot in the head.

Police confirmed that the crowd of people congregated on the corner of California Ave and Flournoy Street for a vigil and balloon release, but a motive for the shootout was still being determined.
