Liverpool could hijack Bayern Munich’s deal to sign Konrad Laimer with the Reds looking to strengthen their midfield as Jurgen Klopp eyes the talented Austrian
Liverpool are plotting a move to sign RB Leipzig star Konrad Laimer as Jurgen Klopp tries to bolster his midfield options next summer.
The Reds have had their fair share of midfield issues so far this season, with Naby Keita and Arthur out with long-term injuries, while Jordan Henderson and Thiago have struggled with fitness issues. James Milner has been Liverpool’s only ever-present in that position, but he isn’t able to start every game, with the midfielder now 37.
Jude Bellingham was heavily linked with a move to the Reds in the summer transfer window but a deal was unable to be struck between Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund as the England international stayed at the German giants. With Liverpool at risk of missing out on the Champions League given their below-par start to the campaign, a move for Bellingham could prove to be tough if they don’t qualify.
Now, according to Sky Germany, Liverpool are working on a move for Laimer as the Reds have plans for significant investment next year, especially in the midfield positions. The Austrian is out of contract in 2023 and it is understood he will not extend his deal, and is now interested in a move to the Premier League.
