Barclays customer handed over £83,000 after unexpected call

Barclays warned that if anyone ever receives an unexpected call from someone claiming to be from the bank and they are not sure who it is, they should end the call.On their website, it states: ‘Scammers can keep your line open, so call us from a different phone if possible, or try calling a friend first to check if your line is still open.’Never call back on the number – even if you find a phone number online and it looks like one of ours. Instead, you can use the number on the back of your debit card, or call us from your app, or call 159.’It’s a safe number set up by Stop Scams UK and will connect you to us securely. If you have a corporate, wealth, or investment bank account, contact us directly.’READ MORE: Coventry Building Society offers top rates on new savings accounts – up to 4.85%
