The Crown has dramatised Diana’s notorious Panorama interview despite her son’s pleas for broadcasters to stop commercialising it.
Next week’s episode of the Netflix drama will re-enact four minutes and 23 seconds of Diana’s hour-long chat with the BBC in 1995.
This is despite the fact journalist Martin Bashir was recently found to have used ‘deceitful behaviour’ to secure the chat with the late royal.
After last year’s investigation, Prince William said: ‘It is my view that the deceitful way the interview was obtained substantially influenced what my mother said.
‘The interview was a major contribution to making my parents’ relationship worse and has since hurt countless others.
