Ahmed Saleh, 22, was killed along with his younger brothers, Mohamed Waleed Ahmed, 12, and Kalheed Waleed Ban Saleh, 10. The two younger brothers were pronounced dead at the scene. Ahmed's 10-month-old daughter, Barah Saleh, was also killed in the blaze. Ahmed and Barah were taken to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced dead. Barah's 21-year-old mother survived the flames, but remains hospitalized in critical condition as of Monday. Another 41-year-old man was also critically injured. Isaac Daylam, Barah's maternal uncle, told the New York Daily News the children were having a sleepover. His sister managed to get to safety, but went back into the house and tried desperately to get the remaining children out. 'She got some people out of the house but when she went back inside, the flames had overtaken the house and the windows burst,' Daylam said. Three firefighters sustained 'minor injuries' while battling the blaze, the FDNY stated on Monday. New York City Mayor Eric Adams arrived at the scene on Sunday afternoon to inspect the damage alongside fire officials. 'When you lose three children, I have an obligation to come here and be here for the block,' he told reporters outside the devastated home. 'We are going to be here for the family to make sure that we can assist with all of the burials and any support that they need at this time.' Residents in the Castle Hill neighborhood in the Bronx woke up to children screaming in terror around 6am as Fire Department of New York (FDNY) firefighters rushed to the scene.
