A massive house fire left three children and one adult dead early on Sunday morning.
Residents in the Castle Hill neighborhood in the Bronx woke up to children screaming in terror around 6am as Fire Department of New York (FDNY) firefighters rushed to the scene.
‘Units arrived in a little over four minutes and found heavy fire on the first and second floors,’ FDNY Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Brennan stated. ‘We immediately went to work removing some of the victims, and a second alarm was quickly transmitted.’
The victims were all members of the same Bronx family. Ahmed Saleh, 22, was killed along with his younger brothers, Mohamed Waleed Ahmed, 12, and Kalheed Waleed Ban Saleh, 10. The two younger brothers were pronounced dead at the scene.
Ahmed’s 10-month-old daughter, Barah Saleh, was also killed in the blaze.
