The new Twitter owner shared a post from a website with a history of spreading false information. He later deleted it – but not before it was shared tens of thousands of times
Elon Musk has deleted one of his own tweets spreading a bizarre conspiracy theory about the Pelosi home invasion that left the husband of the Speaker of the House in hospital.
The new owner of Twitter shared an article from a website known for spreading false information – most notoriously that Hillary Clinton had died in the September 11 attacks and been replaced by a body double.
Commenting under a post by Mrs Clinton about the attack on Paul Pelosi, Musk wrote: “There is a tiny possibility there might be more to this story than meets the eye.”
Suspected attacker David DePape, a known believer in conspiracy theories, was arrested after reportedly confronting the speaker’s husband as he stormed into the couple’s home and shouted “where is Nancy?”
