Getting rid of your pumpkins after they go bad

Millions of pumpkins are set to be thrown out after Halloween celebrations on Monday, according to an environmental charity. But even if yours isn’t good enough to eat, it could have a second use

Halloween comes and goes in a flash, with carved out pumpkins one of the biggest reminders afterwards of the scary autumn season.

From Star Wars characters to Pokémon, Brits have been adventurous with their pumpkin carvings this year.

But what to do with the big orange squashes once the ghost outfits and fake blood have been put in the cupboard for another year?

Environmental charity Hubbub said half the pumpkins bought this year in the UK – some 22 million of the rounded fruits – will go to waste.
