Inter Miami are reportedly trying to sign both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo and even harbour confidence that both signings can be made amid intense speculation
Lionel Messi is the subject of intense interest from MLS outfit Inter Miami, who are reportedly ‘increasingly confident’ that a deal with the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner can be struck.
The Argentine is out of contract with French titans Paris Saint-Germain at the end of this season and while those at the top of the club hierarchy are hopeful Messi will extend his stay, that now appears unlikely in the wake of Stateside interest.
After initially struggling to adapt as quickly as many assumed he would, Messi has started to shine in the French capital and now has 11 goals and 13 assists across all competitions this term. This kind of form has ensured PSG officials are desperate to keep him at the Parc des Princes, but Miami’s desire could tempt the former Barcelona icon.
According to the Athletic, Messi’s representatives and Inter Miami have long been in communication with each other as the latter tries to sound out just how likely a transfer could be. That same report now states how confidence among the MLS side, owned by David Beckham, is growing that Messi will soon be their player.
