The lads revealed Thailand was obsessed with pick-ups and they wanted to discover for themselves just why everyone loved such vehicles. However, the opener did not impress someviewers with many feeling the show to be outdated and 're-hashing' old formulas and stories. Taking to Twitter, one disgruntled fan fumed: "How does #TopGear get away with doing the same crap everytime.? Re-hashing things that have been done before. Awful." A second shared: "Paddy constantly shouting 'go on son' and Flintoff constantly saying 'come on the *insert whatever vehicle he's driving' are making #TopGear very nearly unwatchable. They can't Drive & know very little about cars. Only Chris is worth listening to." Another fan said of the 'boring' show: "This programme needs complete refresh or ditching completely- boring format that seen before #TopGear." A fourth raged: "Isn't it about time the BBC retired Top Gear? Its the same old silly challenges Clarkson, May and Hammond did and they did them a lot better." As another also echoed for Jeremy Clarkson's return, saying: "Bring back Clarkson .[what] a load of claptrap." The viewer backlash comes after Paddy McGuiness was left admitting he needed a 'little cry' following a high intensity challenge in the opening episode.
