Ronaldo called Man Utd return a disaster as new book sheds light

Cristiano Ronaldo labelled his return to Manchester United a ‘disaster’ during a talk with an executive at the FIFA event, a new book has claimed. The Portugal international turned down Manchester City to return to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021. However, despite netting 27 goals from 51 appearances for the Red Devils in the time since, it appears he now regrets his decision…Many had expected Ronaldo to move to Manchester City last summer, with Pep Guardiola eyeing a sensational swoop following his failure to land Harry Kane from Tottenham. But the veteran ended up leaving Juventus for United instead, having been convinced to go back to Old Trafford and fire them to trophies under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.Things started well enough for Ronaldo back in Mancunia, with the forward scoring twice on his second debut for the club against Newcastle.Yet the Red Devils ended up having a troublesome campaign, toiling under both Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick and missing out on a place in the Premier League top four as a result. Now, according to a new book called ‘Messi vs Ronaldo: One Rivalry, Two GOATs, and the Era That Remade the World’s Game’ via The Sun, Ronaldo branded his return a ‘disaster’.Man Utd transfers: Plans for next three signings are damning on Solskjaer Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly branded his return to Man Utd a disaster (Image: GETTY) Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Man Utd last summer (Image: GETTY) Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t enjoy playing for Man Utd under Ralf Rangnick (Image: GETTY)And though he netted in their 3-0 Europa League win over Sheriff on Thursday evening, the 37-year-old has still only found the net three times this season.Speaking ahead of Sunday’s match with West Ham, Ten Hag refused to guarantee Ronaldo a start against David Moyes’ side.’It’s up to him,’ he said when asked if the veteran was capable of matching last season’s goal tally.’But I think when you collect all the chances he creates, the team creates for him in the last weeks, you see he’s still capable to get in the right positions and he’s still capable of finishing them.’I think it’s possible, yeah.WIN A FREE ENGLAND SHIRT FOR THE WORLD CUP!
