Tottenham have four stars who must do better despite Bournemouth win

Tottenham’s performance against Bournemouth highlighted that the club still have serious issues despite coming back from two goals down to win the match 3-2. Antonio Conte has four players who particularly need to improve with Son Heung-Min, Emerson Royal, Yves Bissouma and Davidson each dramatically underperforming. Here Express Sport explains the issues that have affected the four players and how they can look to improve. Son Heung-minThe South Korean has not been on top form so far this season and this run continued on the south coast. He did not ever look like a particular threat to Mark Travers’ goal at any stage of the 90 minutes, something that has become a pattern of his campaign. Conte will need the forward to show the kind of performances he did towards the end of last year as he ended up claiming the Golden Boot, with Spurs creating little in open play. His quality is obvious, it is just a case of unlocking it. Emerson Royal A player who is in a worse position is Emerson Royal, with the wing-back quickly becoming a hugely unpopular figure within the Tottenham support. It was another poor display at the Vitality with an awful shot which he blasted out of the stadium summing up his performance. DON’T MISS: Brighton 4-1 Chelsea: Four things learned as Aubameyang missed and two struggle Tottenham boss Antonio Conte must help four of his stars to improve (Image: GETTY)With Matt Doherty and Djed Spence both competing for his place, there is becoming less of an argument to start the Brazilian, especially as he continues to under-perform. The club need much more from the defender when he is on the park if they are to make more of their season. Yves Bissouma The midfielder is yet to impress since his arrival from Brighton in the summer but has regularly been left on the sidelines as Conte sticks with Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emilie Hojbjerg his first-choice midfield pairing. He has found his way into the side in recent weeks after Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski suffered injuries and it has been no coincidence that the team have got worse as a result. The Malian will need to improve his standards if he wants to contribute to the side in the long-term with fans starting to have serious doubts about his ability. MUST READ…Ukraine football match interrupted by air raid siren as players taken offGuardiola fires scary warning to Arsenal after Man City beat LeicesterArsenal receive Cody Gakpo transfer backing from Robin van Persie Tottenham have not seen the best of Son Heung-min this season (Image: GETTY)Davidson Sanchez Another player who has not taken his opportunity in the first team is Sanchez as the defender struggled against Dominic Solanke and Kiefer Moore on Saturday. The Colombian has shown in flashes what he is capable of since joining from Ajax in 2017 but, in truth, those kinds of performances have not been seen for some time. He remains someone who must improve if he is to get himself more game time and help his team to push for the Champions League places that they crave. WIN A FREE ENGLAND SHIRT FOR THE WORLD CUP! Want the latest Premier League news as we publish it on Express Sport?
