Manchester United and Liverpool won’t be able to nab Moises Caicedo on the cheap in January as Brighton have supposedly named their price. The heavyweight Premier League duo are unlikely to be the only ones in contention to land the Ecuadorian after a superb start to the season. Caicedo was snapped up by Brighton in 2021 as technical director Dan Ashworth pulled the trigger on a bargain transfer from Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle. He spent the first six months of his stint on the south coast on loan at Belgian outfit Beerschot. Having been recalled to the Amex Stadium in January, he immediately impressed then-manager Graham Potter and barged his way into the first team. The 20-year-old has been a regular fixture for Brighton this season and new boss Roberto de Zerbi has supposedly informed him that he could become one of the best midfielders in Europe. According to The Mirror, Brighton have slapped him with an £85million price tag as they attempt to fend off inevitable transfer interest in the January window. The Red Devils signed Casemiro to bolster their midfield in the summer but they are believed to be in the market for another one with the potential to become a long-term member of the squad. Jude Bellingham and Frenkie de Jong have also been touted as options but landing either player would come with major difficulties. There are massive clubs in the running and it will be a big decision to make if they put offers in.”It’s whether he wants to be in London where it is warmer and there is nicer weather or up North where it is cold and wet. It also has to be the club that he feels is the best fit for him. Potter might give Chelsea the upper hand because he knows him and has already signed him once before. It’s one to look out for.”
