Ronaldo could get dream Man Utd transfer exit but Ten Hag could block

Cristiano Ronaldo could finally win a dream return to Sporting Lisbon with the Manchester United icon’s first club willing to seal an emotional January transfer, according to reports. The striker remains keen to leave the Red Devils despite winning his way back into Erik ten Hag’s thinking.Ronaldo is intent on leaving Old Trafford and will once again try to find a new club in the January transfer window. The 37-year-old attempted to exit in the summer but the United hierarchy insisted that he would stay. Former club Sporting have emerged as a possible destination, with Ronaldo to be given a hero’s welcome back at the Portuguese club that launched his remarkable career. The Primeira Liga outfit are prepared to complete a deal that would require plenty of compromise from United.  The Premier League club would need to hand Ronaldo a mega pay-off that would allow him to take a drastic pay cut to join Sporting. The Dutchman could decide that he wants to keep the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, with a big-money replacement likely to be required should Ronaldo leave. It’s claimed United are unlikely to make January signings even if the veteran departs.Ten Hag has shared a fractious relationship with the player, and their differences appeared to boil over two weeks ago. The United boss alleged that Ronaldo refused to be used as a substitute in the Red Devils’ 2-0 win over Tottenham earlier this month. Ronaldo stormed down the tunnel and apparently left Old Trafford before the final whistle.
