King Charles proud to replace Prince Harry in Royal Marines role

The King will become the new captain general of the Royal Marines, succeeding the Duke of Sussex after he relinquished the role on stepping back from royal duties.

His appointment to the ceremonial position comes after months of uncertainty about who would take over from Prince Harry, who was known to be attached to the role and was sad about his removal.

King Charles, who served in the Royal Navy between 1971 and 1976, said it was “the greatest possible pleasure” and that he was “exceptionally proud” to follow relatives who had held the title.
