Tottenham told to make two new signings as Carragher agrees with Conte

Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher has urged Tottenham to upgrade in two positions as he agreed with Antonio Conte on the Spurs boss’ assessment of his squad. The Italian spent over £100million in his first summer in charge, but has bemoaned the lack of quality at his disposal after a dip in form, during which he saw his side draw 1-1 with Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday. After a 2-1 defeat at home to Newcastle last weekend, Conte admitted that his squad lacked strength in depth and stressed the need for patience as fans have grown frustrated at the style of play from Spurs.”We are doing our best in every moment. Today the commitment was really high. We have to face a difficult situation for us. When you don’t have three or four players in the squad you’re in trouble,’ Conte said.”We have to manage very well, this situation, and overcome it together. When you play every three days you need to have a deep, strong squad. We have only just started our process. We are playing in the Champions League. We’re trying to improve our situation step by step.’ Jamie Carragher has urged Tottenham boss Antonio Conte to make two signings. Spurs made a good start against Newcastle last weekend and could have been ahead but for Nick Pope. It could be argued the goalkeepers were the biggest difference.
