Sergio Perez says he does not want teammate Max Verstappen to gift him a win at his home race in Mexico this weekend.
Formula One has arrived in Mexico City with both the drivers’ and constructors’ championship already done and dusted with Verstapppen and Red Bull claiming the titles.
However, Perez still has the chance to finish a career-best second in the standings with the 32-year-old just two points behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
If he was to achieve this, it would also mark the first time ever that Red Bull’s drivers have finished 1-2 in the standings.
As a result, there has been suggestion that the team will focus their attention on helping Perez for the final three races of the season, particularly this weekend where he could become the first Mexican driver to win his home grand prix.
