When lockdown restrictions started to lift in spring last year a dam burst for the weddings industry as couples rushed to hold ceremonies that had been postponed, several times in some cases.
“It’s been the busiest 18 months we’ve ever had in ten years of trading,” said Alex Edwards, 34, founder of The Cotswold Tailor, which offers suits for hire for grooms and bridal parties, as well as bespoke and ready-to-wear suits for sale, from two shops in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, and Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire. “It’s gone absolutely bonkers. There’s no set day or month anymore: we’re as busy this October as we would typically be in July.”
