Four strikers Chelsea could sign in January to challenge for the title

Chelsea have begun life under Graham Potter in impressive form and have gone unbeaten in his nine games in charge since he took over from Thomas Tuchel. However there have still been complaints regarding the Blues’ lack of potency up front, with former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor suggesting that they only need a sharper striker up front to compete for the Premier League title. Should Potter look to move away from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Express Sport looks at four strikers that could solve his dilemma up front.Napoli’s Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is one of the hottest striking prospects on the market, with a host of top clubs set to be interested in the man who scored the winning goal away to Jose Mourinho’s Roma in his last Serie A game to keep Luciano Spalletti’s side top of the table.Calciomercato reported that scouts from Chelsea were in attendance to watch Osimhen spin Chris Smalling before finishing from a tight angle, but one particular stumbling block in bringing the 23-year-old to Stamford Bridge is his reported £87million price tag. Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in the Nigeria striker, but it remains to be seen whether Blues co-owner and acting sporting director Todd Boehly will continue to splash the cash and bring Osimhen to London to end his striker woes. However, Kane’s contract in north London does expire in 2024 and he does not appear close to signing a new deal. There have been very public links to Bayern Munich, though Boehly is understood to be interested in bringing established Premier League talent to Stamford Bridge, which Kane would fit the mould of. Though the England captain may be available for a slightly cheaper fee due to his contract situation, Chelsea would likely have to pay a premium to take him across London. Tottenham star Harry Kane is a reported Chelsea target. (Image: GETTY)The Frenchman reportedly came close to sealing a move to Chelsea in the summer window, but Christopher Nkunku ultimately remained at RB Leipzig where he has eight goals in 11 Bundesliga appearances so far this campaign, to add to the 20 he got last season alongside 13 assists. The 24-year-old has not always lined up as a centre-forward, though he can lead the line, and would represent a more fluid number nine for Potter who has excelled using a similar system at Brighton with Leandro Trossard as the furthest player forward.DON’T MISS…Man Utd settle on January transfer ‘priority’ as Ten Hag targets three starsJurgen Klopp backed to quit Liverpool with ‘conversation to be had’Arsenal ‘would do anything’ for Milinkovic-Savic as Edu hatches plan Chelsea target Christopher Nkunku celebrating his goal against Real Madrid.
