10 tips for getting your child back into a sleep routine after holiday

When your children are in their school routine, everything feels settled and flowing. Add a couple of half terms to the mix and the Christmas holidays and suddenly there seems to be a spanner in the works at bedtime; their sleep routine.

Whether you have had fun days of trips away, entertaining little ones at home or visiting relatives, keeping them amused and fulfilled has now turned into something oh so familiar; the prep for back to school.

But it’s not just their school bag that may need some reshuffling, there is also something else that may need a little bit of organisation; their sleeping pattern.

With play dates, extra TV, a mountain of snacks and some fun late nights, their sleep schedule may be all over the place.

But fear not, there are a few extra things you can do to get it back into place for when they go back to school. Whether they are in reception or are older children, rather than waiting until they actually start back at school, it is best to try and get some order prior.
