Manchester United hero Patrice Evra has insisted fans must get behind Harry Maguire – and they’re not real supporters if they don’t. The England international has endured an alarming dip in form over the past 12 months. However, he’s now got a vote of confidence ahead of tonight’s Europa League clash with Sheriff at Old Trafford.Manchester United signed Maguire back in the summer of 2019 and, during his first two years at the club, he was a regular in the side. However, he’s found the last 12 months tricky and endured a difficult start to the season prior to suffering a hamstring injury last month.Maguire has found himself booed when playing for England and some fans have grown tired of the 29-year-old’s lack of consistency, especially given how he set them back a massive £85million two years ago.But Evra, speaking to Betfair, has now sent a strong message of support to Maguire – insisting real supporters will back him, rather than jeer him.He said: “Now, United have Lindelof, Maguire and it’s a big opportunity. It’s a massive opportunity for Harry Maguire. The team is doing well, and I think because of that his integration will be easier.Man Utd transfers: Plans for next three signings are damning on Solskjaer Man Utd hero Patrice Evra has backed Harry Maguire to silence his critics (Image: GETTY) Man Utd spent big on Harry Maguire back in the summer of 2019 (Image: GETTY) Man Utd star Harry Maguire is back from injury ahead of Sheriff clash (Image: GETTY)’I think Ten Hag is a clever manager and he will give time to Maguire, but when he does the result has to be there. I remember when I was playing for France, I was the one talking before the games and Varane was a quiet guy, but you can see now he’s got more confident and he has more experience. He’s won a lot with Real Madrid.’It could be a big loss for Didier Deschamps. I know in the Euros he played young players, but I know him and the French national team is struggling right now because all the experienced players are injured.
