A 15-year-old girl was killed in a freak accident when her hijab became entangled in a go-kart, an inquest has heard.
Ruwaida Adan was strangled by the headscarf as she started a race with other teenagers from a summer school.
She was taken to hospital in August 2021 but died four days later.
Ruwaida was visiting Capital Karts in east London which has a policy that all loose clothing should be removed before getting into the cars, Walthamstow Coroner’s Court heard.
Her family told jurors she had only recently started wearing a hijab but didn’t wear it all the time.
