Unai Emery is hoping to bring some of his Villarreal staff with him to the Premier League when he takes charge of Aston Villa.
The Spaniard, who was confirmed as the new Villa head coach on Monday, is working out who will comprise his backroom staff after Steven Gerrard’s assistants were also dismissed with him last week. The Times understands that Pablo Villanueva and Antonio Rodriguez are set to join Emery at Villa Park while he would also like to bring the video analyst Victor Mañas with him.
Villanueva has been Emery’s assistant during his spells at Sevilla, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal, and, having joined Villarreal as technical assistant, was promoted to assistant coach in June. The 46-year-old Spaniard was Emery’s right-hand man during his
