Twitter’s ‘heavy tweeters’ are growing bored of the platform

An internal document has revealed that Twitter is struggling to keep its most active user engaged.

This is bad news for the social media giant which depends on its number of daily active users to secure business from advertisers.

According to internal Twitter research titled ‘Where did the Tweeters Go?’ seen by Reuters, ‘heavy tweeters’ account for less than 10% of monthly overall users but generate 90% of all tweets and half of global revenue.

The document said that heavy tweeters have been in ‘absolute decline’ since the pandemic began.

The research also found that the platform was becoming a hub for cryptocurrency and ‘not safe for work’ (NSFW) content, making the platform less attractive to advertisers.
