Back to the Future – Michael J Fox calls for massive change in remake

Earlier this month, Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd had an emotional reunion at New York Comic Con to thunderous applause and enthusiasm from Back to the Future fans around the world. It’s been 37 years since the original movie hit cinemas and people still just can’t get enough of it. This is something the Marty McFly star has only recently been able to come to terms with himself, having had a change of heart.Speaking with ET, Fox said: ‘What’s most amazing about Back to the Future is that — and it has nothing to do with me — but it has this life, People don’t just like it and remember it, they celebrate it and embrace it and get my face tattooed on their leg, and I mean, it’s crazy but in a good way. I love it and I only recently have been able to embrace it in a way. Not that I rejected it before, or wasn’t proud of it, but I didn’t fully get how much people related to it, how much it meant to them.’The 61-year-old shared the moment that turned how he viewed the franchise around.  Back to the Future reboot: Michael J Fox confesses the huge change he wants in a remake (Image: UP) Doc and Marty reunited (Image: GETTY) Michael J Fox has finally “got the spirit” of Back to the Future (Image: GETTY) Michael J Fox played the guitar for real in the Johnny B Goode scene of Back to the Future (Image: GETTY)Fox has also shared his idea for a Back to the Future reboot, if the original 1985 classic was ever remade.Speaking with ET, he said: ‘I actually had this thought that if they did the movie again, they should do it with a girl as Marty. There’s something about it that connects with people on every level. I just feel like it will come around again.’Gender-swapping and setting the action in the present day has been done before with the likes of the Ghostbusters reboot in 2016.
