Users who do not want to pay will instead have to accept all of Meta’s online tracking
Meta is planning to charge Instagram users £11 a month to use the photography app without adverts.
The social media company reportedly laid out plans for a subscription model aimed at European users last month, which it hopes will beat new rules on personalised advertising and tracking of users online.
Officials from the Facebook owner revealed the proposal in meetings with regulators from Ireland and Brussels, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Subscriptions for Instagram access on desktop computers would start at €10 (£8) a month, rising to €13 (£11) for mobile devices.
