Antiques Roadshow viewers ‘mind blown’ over extreme drop in 1760 wooden card table value

Antique Roadshow viewers blown away over significant drop in price for a wooden Philadelphia Card Table brought brought in that was originally worth hundreds of thousands of dollars

Antiques Roadshow viewers were “mind blown” over the extreme drop in value of a wooden Philadelphia Card Table brought into the Vintage Hartford 2023 show on Monday evening.

The woman who brought in the wooden table explained that her grandmother purchased the piece in Rhode Island at an estate sale. She said that she was not aware of what her grandmother originally paid for the table, but that they probably owned the table within their family since the 1930s.

Antique lovers took to social media to share their reactions to the substantial drop in price for an antique wooden card table that was made in 1760 originally worth $250,000 to $350,000 in 2008 and significantly dropped in 2023 to be only worth $20,000 to $30,000.

Viewers flocked to Twitter to share their shocked reactions to the massive price drop with one viewer Tweeting: “I call BS. I can’t believe value would drop by that much,” another agreed writing: “Mind Blown at that new appraisal.” Many noticed that the value of antiques has gone down in recent years with one viewer commenting: “Furniture, other than mid-century modern, has taken a huge beating in recent years,” and another adding: “From watching the 2007-2008 Vintage shows, it appears those years were maybe a peak in the market? Most antiques, especially pottery and furniture, have lost value.”
