Officers said they were led to the house after a fingerprint left on a ransom note mailed to Charlotte's parents was traced. And Google images show the house through the trees in a creepy setting. After escaping the house of horrors, Charlotte is reported to be safe and healthy after she was taken by law enforcement to Albany Medical Centre Hospital. 'What happened was extraordinary,' said state Governor Kathy Hochul. She said while the rest of Charlotte's family remained at the campground where she had gone missing, police watching their home saw someone drop a note in their mailbox at 4.20am on Monday. State police pulled fingerprints off the note and the second one matched Ross, who was in a database from a 1999 DWI case, Hochul said. "After some resistance, the suspect was taken into custody .. Hochul said. "[Charlotte] knew she was being rescued. She knew that she was in safe hands." The rescue marked the end of an intense search. About 400 people took part in the hunt for the girl Monday, including forest rangers, police officers and firefighters.
