Meghan Markle’s ‘two vital assets’ could pave way to the White House

Meghan Markle can count on “two vital assets” that would help her succeed in a political career, a royal historian has claimed. The Duchess of Sussex’s political aspirations have been the subject of speculation and the death of Senator Dianne Feinstein last week reignited the rumour mill. Meghan was known to be politically active before she officially joined the Royal Family in 2018, and when she stepped down she resumed her efforts by lobbying members of Congress as well as urging Americans to vote . And according to historian Dr Tessa Dunlop, the Duchess’s path into politics could be made easier by two factors. She said: “Americans, particularly Californians, aren’t averse to selecting their politicians from Tinsel Town . For all the latest on news, politics, sports, and showbiz from the USA, go to Daily Express US Meghan has been tipped to finish Feinstein’s remaining 13 months in office (Image: GETTY) ” Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger were both governors of the state, albeit Republican ones, before the former went on to become president of the USA. “Like Schwarzenegger, (and dare I say it, Trump) Meghan has immense name recognition and considerable wealth – two vital assets in the US political system.” Speaking to The Mirror , Dr Dunlop added: “Love her or loathe her, the duchess would be able to reach parts of the electorate that other politicians could only dream of.” And in the past, she has used her position to advocate for equal paid parental leave and cold-called members of Congress to promote the Paid Leave For All Campaign . Meghan has been politically active since stepping down from her royal role (Image: GETTY) Meghan joined efforts to get people voting in the 2020 presidential election (Image: GETTY) Discussing a potential involvement in politics in 2021 , the Duchess appeared to swerve the issue – but she did not rule out she would consider a change of careers. Asked if she was anxious about “getting involved into politics” with her cold-calling, she said: “I don’t see this as a political issue, frankly. “Look, there’s certainly a precedent amongst my husband’s family and the Royal Family of not having any involvement in politics but I think this is … paid leave, from my standpoint, is just a humanitarian issue.” Follow our social media accounts here on https://www.facebook.com/ ExpressUSNews and @ExpressUSNews
