Jerome Boateng ready for shock Bayern Munich return after court verdict overturned

Former Manchester City, Lyon and Germany centre-back Jerome Boateng looks set to make an emotional return to the Allianz Arena two years after waving farewell to Bavaria

Jerome Boateng is on the verge of returning to Bayern Munich just a week after a court verdict for assault and insult was overturned.

The defender only left the Allianz Arena back in 2021 following a hugely successful decade in Bavaria. He joined French side Lyon on a free transfer.

According to reports in Germany, an emotional return to Bayern is now on the cards for Boateng. As per Sky Deutschland, Bayern bosses want to sign the 35-year-old, who is currently without a club. Advanced talks are reported to have taken place between the two parties, with Boateng fit and ready to return.

He has yet to undergo a medical ahead of putting pen to paper on a deal. The former German international is likely to be drafted in as injury cover after a fresh round of talks on Sunday.
