Ryder Cup fan dubbed ‘Colonel Sanders’ dives in to lake in excitement to celebrate epic win

A viral video shows a fan wearing white clothes jumping into a lake at the Marco Simone Golf Club in Rome, Italy, after Team Europe regained the trophy from the United States

A Ryder Cup fan who was dubbed “Colonel Sanders” thanks to his all-white outfit has been filmed diving into a lake to celebrate Europe’s epic win in the major golf tournament.

The fan managed to escape security at the Marco Simone Golf Club in Rome, Italy, and jumped in the water with his clothes and shoes on moments after Tommy Fleetwood guaranteed that Europe regain the trophy from the United States. The clip shows a grey-haired gentleman evading security while running towards the water.

As he gets close to the lake, he removes his hat, ditches it, and then jumps into the water where he celebrates the huge win. According to reports on social media, other fans followed and jumped in as well.

Ryder Cup Europe posted a drone shot of the golf course on X (formerly Twitter ), showing several fans jumping into a lake, with the caption: “We have fans in the water, repeat, fans in the water.” A person commented: “It’s gonna be one hell of a celebration.”
