In a discussion with People, the former governor of California discussed how the title is German for grandfather. Arnie, of Austrian heritage, said: "It's just such a fun thing to do because it's kind of like I [didn't] know how good I would be [at being a grandfather] but I have the animals so it's an easy thing." Opening up on family life, Arnie admitted that the first thing Katherine's daughters do when they come over to Opa's house is to look for his little dog called Cherry. "Where's Cherry?' Which is my little dog," Arnold revealed of the interaction. "I say, 'Cherry's waiting for you.' 'Mommy, can we go over to see Opa, to see Cherry?' 'Sure, we go tomorrow.' So they come over: 'Cherry, Cherry, Cherry' and she holds Cherry in her lap." It's not just the pooch that grabs the tot's attention either, with the former bodybuilder's pet pig also high on the youngster's view list, followed by the horses.
