ITV axing iconic part of Big Brother for revamped series as new hosts reveal changes to show

Big Brother hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best have revealed what is set to change within the new format of the show and what will remain the same ahead of the revamped series

Throughout its 23-year history, Big Brother has provided some of the most iconic moments in British TV history – from Nasty Nick and Fight Night to Vanessa Feltz’s emotional breakdown live on air.

But after being axed in 2018, the iconic show is now back and its new hosts AJ Odudu, 35, and Will Best, 38, have spilled the tea on what viewers are set to expect from the new revamped series. For the first time in the show’s history, it will be hosted by two presenters instead of one – but ITV bosses have added even more tweaks to its usual format to ensure it stands out from the previous series.

When exiting the Big Brother house, housemates famously walked out to a chorus of boos or cheers from the crowd that had gathered for eviction night. However, according to Will, this usual format will likely be changed in line with how societal changes and to avoid 00s-style ‘bear-baiting’ TV.

Speaking to the Mirror, he told us: “I don’t think anybody will be stopping people from doing anything but are people going to want to? It does feel as though the world has changed a little bit.” And it looks as though participants will be far more protected than before, as AJ says that she feels as though it’s her duty as a presenter to look after the contestants as some of them “have never been on TV before.”
