Strictly’s Ellie Taylor admits show that launched career ‘wouldn’t happen today’

Strictly: Ellie Taylor and Johannes Radebe eliminated Comedian Ellie Taylor first rose to fame when she replaced Atomic Kitten’s Jenny Frost as the host of BBC Three’s Snog Marry Avoid in 2012. The show gave ‘fake obsessed’ women makeunders to transform them into ‘natural beauties’. Although the show became one of BBC Three’s top shows and ran for six seasons, Ellie says she doesn’t think it would be made today. She told Express.co.uk: ‘It was off its time wasn’t it, it wouldn’t happen today. At the time it was a great show to get, and I really enjoyed doing it. ‘I don’t think the feminist values stand up particularly well today but the landscape shifts, doesn’t it? And so do we. After the series ended in 2013, Ellie appeared in a number of huge TV shows including Mock The Week, The Mash Report and performed at Live At The Apollo twice. In 2020, she began starring as Sassy in the Emmy-winning Apple TV series, Ted Lasso, opposite the likes of Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham. Last year, Ellie reached new audiences when she made Week 10 of Strictly Come Dancing with her professional partner Johannes Radebe. Trending Ellie Taylor has since starred in Ted Lasso, Strictly Come Dancing and Live At The Apollo.
