Meta Quest 3 is £480 and out next month – Xbox Cloud Gaming due this year

The new version of the best-selling VR headset, that doesn’t need a console or PC to work, will be able to run Xbox games like Starfield and Forza.

An expensive VR headset is not going to be an essential purchase for many people in the current financial climate and yet not only did Sony launch the PlayStation VR2 this year but now we know exactly when the successor to the Meta Quest 2 is going to arrive.

What would’ve been called Oculus Quest 3 is almost being shadow-dropped, with a launch on October 10 at a price of £480.

As expensive as that it is, it does represent good value for money, as the chief appeal of the Quest line is that they don’t need to be connected to a console or PC to work – all of the processing is done by the headset and so it doesn’t have any wires to trip up on.

Although Meta already said the headset was due this year the suddenness of the price announcement is perhaps an attempt to get in before the launch of Apple’s Vision Pro, but considering that costs $3,499 it doesn’t really seem like direct competition.
