The Brit will rise to No 93 in the world following his run to the final of the Saint-Tropez Challenger. It’s another achievement in Broady’s impressive season, as he also stunned fourth seed Casper Ruud at Wimbledon this year. And he admitted that he had waited a decade to reach the milestone. Broady has become the latest player to reach the huge landmark of making his debut inside the world’s top 100. The British No 4 has been plugging away for over a decade – first playing on the Futures tour when he was just 15 years old and reaching the Wimbledon boys junior final in 2011, having won the boys’ doubles a year earlier. Now aged 29, Broady has finally achieved his dream of cracking the world’s top 100. With the ATP rankings delayed slightly due to the Asian swing schedule, he is set to rise to a new career-high of No 93 on Wednesday. And it’s been a long time coming. ‘The thing that’s been the goal that’s kept me going for 10 years has been ‘I will be top 100 one day,” a relieved Broady told the Press Association. After relieving the burden of a long-awaited debut in the top 100, the Brit is already refocusing and aiming even higher. But it is a big weight off my shoulders.’ A two-time champion on the Challenger tour, Broady didn’t want to end his career without achieving the ‘holy grail’ of the top 100. ‘I don’t know why but you always see a player who’s been in the top 100 differently,’ he explained. ‘Even if someone’s made 99 and someone’s been 101, there’s a different sort of aura about that and I’ve been conscious of that for years. There have been plenty of British players that have been fantastic but never managed to cross that final hurdle.
