This Morning star Alison Hammond is the new host of the Great British Bake Off, which kicks off on Channel 4 tonight at 8pm with 12 new budding bakers in the iconic tent
Alison Hammond has lit up our screens since she found fame on Big Brother in 2002, and now fans will get to see even more of her as the host of the Great British Bake Off, which kicks off tonight.
The beloved TV personality said she was delighted to take over from former host, Matt Lucas, who congratulated the bubbly Brummie on getting the job, which many fans reckon is a natural fit for the presenter.
Alison is also one of the stars of ITV’s This Morning, having made more appearances on the daytime show following the Phillip Schofield’s exit. Following Alison’s appointment, a source said: “To ITV bosses, Holly and Alison are the dream team and it is also what Holly wanted and that is very important to those high up because they don’t want to lose her. It shows how much Holly means business when it comes to saving This Morning from the trauma it has endured since the whole Schofield scandal. She is determined to keep things going.”
Here, we take a look at Alison’s life off-screen since the public first fell in love with her two decades ago â from her romantic relationships and Birmingham home life to her incredible weight loss journey.
