Child’s heartbreaking last eight words to mum before he vanished

Robert Williams, 15, had been walking to a party on March 22 2002 when he went missing and this morning two people were arrested, over two decades later, in connection with the mystery

A teenage boy spoke just eight words to his mum before he left their home for the last time, never to be heard from again.

Robert Williams vanished aged just 15, when he was on his way to a party on March 22, 2002. Now, 21 years later, a man and a woman have been arrested in connection to the incident. South Wales Police arrested a 59-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man early this morning. They have since been released on bail.

The major update comes after years of leads and desperate pleas from Robert’s mum Cheryl. Amongst them, she revealed the last thing her son ever said to her before being taken from her forever. “He was a character – he always made you laugh,” she said. “He loved his sport. He was never without a ball, a rugby ball or a football, he just loved everything about it.”

She also revealed Robert’s last words to her. Speaking to BBC’s Crimewatch Live, she said: “The morning Robert went missing was just like any other morning. He said: ‘I am off out mam, see you later’ and he looked so happy going around the corner. Just every day I think about that because that is the last time I have ever seen him.”
