Gigi Hadid was one of the first stars to champion a noughties-style outfit in 2016, wearing a denim skirt over jeans. And things have spiralled since then. In the Autumn/Winter 2023 fashion shows we saw models sashay down the runway in a number of dresses or skirts over trousers. Numerous influencers and fashionistas followed suit, being snapped in street styles that would make you think you'd eerily stepped back in time. Now the bold look has trickled down into high street stores, with Urban Outfitters and Ragged Priest jumping on the bandwagon. Some shops are even offering jeans with an inbuilt skirt and belt, if you want to fully commit to the cause. For those who remember the days of CD walkmans and floppy discs, the resurgence of the fashion trend has not gone down well. One millennial shared a snap of a mannequin in her local Urban Outfitters store which was dressed in jeans and a long purple dress. She wrote: "I saw this in Urban Outfitters the other day and almost had a heart attack. "Dear Gen Z please don't do it. "You'll regret it.
