 A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead in a flat in Blackpool. Police were called to a home in Redcar Road on Thursday morning to find 51-year-old Alison Dodds had died. She had suffered a number of serious injuries and Lancashire Police say a post mortem confirms she died as a result of those injuries. Her family have been informed and they are being supported by specially trained officers. A murder investigation was launched on Saturday, and today a 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Detective Chief Inspector Jane Webb said: 'The victim in this case has suffered some horrific injuries and we have a dedicated team of officers working tirelessly to establish the circumstances surrounding her death. 'However, my thoughts do remain with Alison's friends and loved ones at this extremely difficult time. 'This is a fast-moving investigation and although we have now made an arrest, we are still appealing for information. 'We appreciate the support already given to us by mane people in the community surrounding the address. 'The community should also be assured that police will remain visible in the area. 'They are there to keep you safe, so do speak to them with any concerns or information you may have.'
