Coronation Street’s Stephen Reid plans getaway as Jenny Connor’s life unravels

Coronation Street killer Stephen Reid (played by Todd Boyce) has a plan to get out of Weatherfield this week as the net closes in on him, but it looks like his plans might be scuppered by the latest turn of events at the Rovers Return. Spoilers released by ITV for upcoming episodes show he tries to persuade new love Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) to go to Thailand with him. Claiming he wants to get away from everything, he is working on winning her around to the idea when the new owners of the Rovers put a spanner in the works. When the Waterford’s manager arrives to break the news that they’re closing the much-loved pub for an extensive refurbishment and all the staff contracts have been terminated with immediate effect, Jenny and her team are thrown into a spin. Although Adam Barlow (Sam Robinson) insists there’s a case for unfair dismissal Jenny hasn’t only lost her job, but she and Stephen have lost their home too and are forced to seek refuge with Jenny’s former stepmother Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox).
