Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding died in September 2021 from breast cancer and two years on, her bandmate Nicola Roberts has opened up on the grief she feels
In a heart-wrenching appearance on Good Morning Britain, Nicola Roberts broke down as she opened up about the devastating loss of her Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding. It’s been two years since Harding tragically passed away from breast cancer in September 2021.
Roberts bravely fought back tears as she shared her ongoing struggle with grief, admitting that Harding’s death still doesn’t feel “real” to her. She imagines her friend is out there somewhere, living life to the fullest.
During the emotional interview with GMB hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shepherd, Roberts was asked how she has been coping with the loss. Shepherd empathetically remarked, “I can’t believe it’s two years this month since we lost her and grief’s a funny thing, isn’t it? It hits you in waves and I bet there are moments where she pops up into your mind and you want to phone her up because something’s happened and you just want to have a laugh with her. How have you dealt with it?”
Visibly moved, Roberts responded, “I think that everybody deals with grief in different ways. Some people face it head on.” She added, “I think, for me, it’s just still not really that real. I think a lot of the time I’m like, she’s in Thailand on a beach or she’s in Ibiza with her friends or she’s somewhere. Then I’m reminded that she’s not.”
