A bizarre 911 call reveals the pilot who ejected from the F-35 fighter jet which went missing on Sunday asking for an ambulance after parachuting into a resident’s back yard.
The military pilot can be heard admitting to the bemused call handler that he doesn’t know what became of his $100 million stealth fighter jet in the four minute audio recording. The plane made headlines after the pilot ejected only for the aircraft to continue flying, prompting the US military to ask the public for help to find it.
In the emergency call a North Charleston resident calmly explains that a pilot just parachuted into his backyard, then the pilot himself admits he doesn’t know what became of his F-35 jet meanwhile the puzzled dispatcher tries to make sense of it all. “We got a pilot in the house, and I guess he landed in my backyard, and we’re trying to see if we could get an ambulance to the house, please,” the resident said. The pilot, who said he was 47, reported feeling “OK” after falling what he estimated was 2,000 feet. Only his back hurt, he said. The resident said the pilot looked fine.
